A magnificent sports meet was organized at St Mary’s College, Bela on January 25, 2022, in which all the students participated with great fervour and manifested their athletic skills with an unimpeachable finesse.
So, to make our students more energetic and strong our college has made arrangement for games and sports. On a daily basis our students play in the ground provided near the College and also we have indoor games. To make the academic session interesting, annual sports celebrations are held.
The sports day was celebrated for a single day but actually the games start a month before. An enthusiastic celebration for one whole month. During this month various outdoor and indoor games selection rounds, semi-final rounds and final rounds are conducted. Students are selected for various houses by the team captains and sports faculty co-ordinator. All the students will be participating in different activities and faculties will be guiding them in organising various events.
The mega event commenced with the Master of Ceremony Ms.Fathimath Liya by announcing the arrival of the respected dignitaries: The correspondent, Very. Rev. Fr Stany Pereira, the College Principal, Rev. Fr. Anil Avild Lobo , the Vice-Principal, Mr. Vincent Dsouza.
The programme began with prayer by students and proceeded by Hoisting of the College Flag which was followed by Inauguration of Sports day by releasing pigeons by the Chief guests and Another highlight of the day was the lighting of the Sports Torch by Very. Rev. Fr Stany Pereira which was carried by Sreenidhi Along with House leaders And The event proceeded further with the March Past led by the squads of all Six Houses. The Oath taking Ceremony is done by Ivan Preetham 3rd Bcom.
The President of the event Very.Rev.Fr. Stany Pereira, the correspondent of St. Mary's institution who has always been an inspiration with his motto “To bring together people of God”, next enlightened the gathering on the importance of physical fitness, hoping that students of St. Mary's College will make a mark for themselves in the sports arena at all the levels.
Subsequently, the Chief Guest Rev. Fr Anil Avild Lobo , Principal of St. Mary's College have given a key note speech where he advised Students to keep up their sportsman spirit. The event is further proceeded by the president of the event by declaring the annual sports meet 2022 is open.
The first event after the Formal function was 1500 meters race and followed by 100 meters race for both boys and girls. And ended with 4*100 relay. Watching the relay will be of a great fun and an enjoyable one.
At the end of the day, students departed with a clear smile on their faces. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.
