On the 30th and 31st of January 2024 St Mary’s College Bela hosted annual Sports and Games Meet ,at its ground to its students ,a day to showcase the talents of athletes and players. The day started with a beautiful prayer song by college choir. Ms.Sailakshmi welcomed the gathering. College correspondent Very Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira inaugurated the event and emphasized on the importance of sports for physical health. The Correspondent along with the dignitaries on the dais took the salute of the impressive March past from students. The school Band lead the March past with the beats on drums and trumpets. Rev.Dr.Rocky Fernandez, college Principal encouraged the students to participate in all the activities and show their talents and real sportsman spirit in all the events.
Students actively participated in 100 meters, 200 mtrs, 400 mtrs and 800mtrs track events held for women and women separately, followed by the throws like discus throw, shot-put, long jump, high jump relay where the main attractions of sports day . cricket ,football ,Kabbaddi and volleyball for men and throw ball for women ,shuttle singles and doubles for men and women, Indoor games chess and carrom where the main event of Games day 2023. The day filled with real sports man spirit and competition despite of minor sprains and fractures was well organized by the praiseworthy support of staff and students under the strong coordination Sports and games coordinators Mr.Ummar Farook and Mr.Ravindra Pai.
