Onam festival falls during the Malayalam month of chingam(Aug-Sept). It is the biggest festival celebrated with joy and enthusiasm by people of all communities in Kerala.St. Mary's college Bela celebrated Onam in a grand and traditional manner on 6th and 7th of September 2019,as 'Prahasanam 2K19'.
The event was inauagurated by the Correspondent, Rev. Fr. John vas, Principal of the college Fr.Ashok Aryan Crasta, Vice Principal Mr. Vincent D'Souza. The cultural events planned for the day were follows -Thiruvathira,Singarimelam,breaking the pot, Biscuit eating, Balloon blasting,Sack Race etc.
A Onam celebration is incomplete without a delicious meal and therefore, which was also organized famously called the 'Onam Sadhya'.
Singarimelam is one of the traditions followed in Kerala. It is one among the most famous instrumental music forms of Kerala. It was a delight to watch the chendamelam which added a great deal of brilliance to the 'Prahasanam 2K19'.
