St. Mary's College, Bela celebrated "FESTINO BEATS 2023"-SMCIANZ Arts Day on 20th January. An arts day is to exhibit students' creative ambition and to give them a chance to showcase their hard work and talents.
Arts Day of the academic year 2022-23 was inaugurated by Rev.Fr.Rithesh Rodrigues, (the Parish priest of Kollangana Church, Ex faculty of St.Philomena, College Puttur and present Faculty of PG department) accompanied by President of the event V. Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira, the Principal of the college Rev. Fr. Anil Avild Lobo, the vice principal Mr.Vincent D'Souza and event co-ordinators Mrs. Vidya Kumari.T, Ms. Preetha Kumary R.K and Mrs. Jalapushpa.
Ms. Ayshath Nasreen student of II BBA welcomed everyone wholeheartedly to the programme. Rev. Fr. Rithesh Rodrigues reflected on the relevance of cultural fest in the curriculum, how it builds team spirit, leadership quality and coordinating capacity among students.
The president of the event V. Rev. Fr. Stany Pereira stressed in his speech to develop the various facets of personality of students; curricular must be supplemented with extracurricular activities. Extra-curricular activities help in the development of intellectual, emotional and ethical aspects of one’s life.

The inaugural ceremony was concluded by delivering vote of thanks by Ms. Amritheshwari, student of I BBA. The programme was compered by Ms. Anisha student I BCom and cultural programme was compared by Ms. Krishnakripa of III BCom.
The events of the arts day programme included off stage and on-stage competitions. The off-stage items were Essay writing, Story writing, Poem writing, Water colour and Pencil drawing. On stage events were such as Solo Dance, Freestyle, Mimeshow, Tableau, Kolkali, Fancy Dress, Thiruvathira Bharatanatyam, Nadanpattu, Solo singing and Mappilla pattu. All the students of PG and UG were divided into four groups. The groups were named as Agni, Prithvi, Brahmos, Prahar. Students of all four houses were very happy and excited to attend and perform in the "FESTINO BEATS". All the lecturers and the non-teaching staff members contributed wholeheartedly in organising the event successfully.
